Latinoamerikanci s pravom ovaj čaj nazivaju ‘napitkom bogova’, a razvili su i čitav ritual ispijanja ove vrste čaja iz posebnih posuda koje su izrađene od osušenih tikvica, a zovu se calabase. Čaj se pije direktno iz njih pomoću metalne slamčice – bombille koja je u svom donjem dijelu plosnata i sadrži rupice za filtriranje.
U posudu se ulije do pola ili 2/3 visine praha suhe biljke Mate nakon čega se posudica zatvori dlanom, protrese i otvori tako da otvor bude pod 45 stupnjeva. U posudu koja je i dalje nagnuta sa strane se ulije malo hladne vode te pusti kratko da odstoji. Nakon toga ulijeva se vruća, ali ne kipuća voda, optimalno 70-80 C, sve do ispod vrha te se onda stavlja u posudu slamčica – bombilla, malo se pričeka da se talog slegne i prvi Mate je spreman za piće.
Mate čaj je također moguće pripremiti uz pomoć hladne vode. Ovaj napitak bogova pije se u društvu i čak je njegova priprema vrsta rituala za smirenje.Obično je prvi Mate dosta jak i pije ga prvo osoba koja ga je spravila. Bombilla se pritom ne smije podizati s dna. Nakon što je ispijen, ulijeva se nova količina vruće vode i Mate se predaje drugoj osobi na ispijanje i tako redom u krug, sve dok napitak ne postane preslab.
U čaj se može dodati mlijeko, šećer, limun ili med kako bi se poboljšao okus.

Chances are there wasn't collaboration, communication, and checkpoints, there wasn't a process agreed upon or specified with the granularity required. It's content strategy gone awry right from the start. Forswearing the use of Lorem Ipsum wouldn't have helped, won't help now. - Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.

- Commercial publishing platforms and content management systems ensure that you can show different text, different data using the same template.
- When it's about controlling hundreds of articles, product pages for web shops, or user profiles in social networks, all of them potentially with different sizes, formats, rules for differing elements things can break, designs agreed upon can have unintended consequences and look much different than expected.
This is quite a problem to solve, but just doing without greeking text won't fix it. Using test items of real content and data in designs will help, but there's no guarantee that every oddity will be found and corrected. Do you want to be sure? Then a prototype or beta site with real content published from the real CMS is needed—but you’re not going that far until you go through an initial design cycle.
